I simply adore this quote below. Most days I don’t feel pretty at all. I feel hideous and gross and “whoa! let’s not look at this woman any longer” nasty. But then I’m reminded by stuff like this that I am truly beautiful. Not supermodel or superstar beautiful, because that’s just too fake for the likes of me. I am human, and I am shiny in my own beauty. Droopy eyelid, dark circles under my eyes, aging teeth, saggy tits, gnarly toes, menopause pimples, everything. They’re all mine and I’ve earned them. They are what makes me…well…ME.
“You don’t have to be pretty. You don’t owe prettiness to anyone: not your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not your coworkers, especially not random men on the street. You don’t owe it to your mother; you don’t owe it to your children. You don’t owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked “female.” ― Diana Vreeland
